What events does the Movistar Arena suit?
Few Madrid venues can bring together more than 10,000 people under one roof right in the centre. That is why the Movistar Arena fits conventions for large workforces, sales kick-offs, awards ceremonies with an audience and product launches conceived as a show. It also works for a large-format company celebration with live performances.
Capacity and spaces
According to esMADRID, the current maximum capacity is 17,453 people in concert configuration. At a corporate event, the usable figure depends on where the stage goes, how much of the floor is used with chairs or tables and which stands are opened. With an end stage and part of the stands closed, capacity drops and the feeling of a full room improves.
Inside the venue is La Sala, opened in 2023, a space for up to 800 people with its own entrance through Gate 36 (on the corner of Calle de Goya and Calle de la Fuente del Berro). It operates independently and can serve for a reception afterwards, a VIP area or a smaller event.
Getting there
The address is Avenida de Felipe II s/n, in the Salamanca district. There are three metro stations nearby: Goya (lines 2 and 4), O'Donnell (line 6) and Príncipe de Vergara (lines 2 and 9). From the Atocha and Chamartín high-speed stations you can get there by metro or shuttle. Its central location means the group can stay in hotels a short distance away.
Production tips
- Hold dates very early. The concert and sports calendar is busy: free dates, and build and breakdown days, are booked a long way ahead.
- Design the capacity, not just the stage. Decide which stands you open and how empty areas are masked with lighting or drapes so the audience looks compact.
- Plan entry as you would for a concert. Stagger arrival times, spread access across several gates and provide a fast cloakroom and registration.
- Coordinate with the surroundings. It is a residential area: coaches, loading and unloading and audience exit need a mobility plan agreed with the venue.
