What events does IFEMA Madrid suit?
IFEMA is home to Madrid's major trade shows and is also a large-format congress and convention venue. It fits when you need a commercial exhibition, a plenary and breakout rooms in one place: medical or technology congresses with a stand and poster area, company conventions of several thousand people, launches with a hall built to measure and events during trade shows.
Halls, rooms and capacities
IFEMA puts the venue at around 200,000 m², spread across 13 halls, 85 rooms, two convention centres and outdoor areas. These are the hall capacities from its official chart:

For more contained formats there are the convention centres. The North Convention Centre has an auditorium with 1,100 seats theatre style, 18 further rooms and a foyer for receptions of up to 1,800 people, according to the Madrid Convention Bureau. The South Convention Centre, the closer of the two to public transport, has an auditorium with 600 seats and 10 rooms. There are also 45 rooms on the hall mezzanines, for 12 to 120 people.
Getting there
The address is Avenida del Partenón 5, in Campo de las Naciones. Metro line 8 stops at Feria de Madrid and Campo de las Naciones, and connects with the airport, about 4 km away. Chamartín station, with high-speed trains, is 8.5 km away. There are 14,000 parking spaces and 50 coach bays.
Production tips
- Choose the convention centre by attendee flow. The South is closer to public transport; the North has the large auditorium and a spacious foyer for coffee breaks and receptions.
- A hall is an empty box. Budget stage, lighting, sound, furniture, signage and catering from scratch.
- Check which services are open to outside suppliers. The Madrid Convention Bureau states that the venue's services are offered on a non-exclusive basis. Check in the contract which external suppliers your set-up can use.
- Cross-check your dates with the trade show calendar. If you coincide with a large trade show, hotels in the area and the access roads become saturated.
- Work out walking times. Distances between halls are long: adjust the running order and the signage accordingly.
