What events does the Palacio Municipal suit?
It is a building designed for congresses: a large auditorium for the plenary, around thirty rooms for parallel sessions and an open-plan space for a commercial exhibition, posters or lunches. In terms of size it covers mid-sized national and international congresses, company conventions and shareholder meetings, and it lets you close the programme with a gala dinner without leaving the building.
Auditorium, rooms and capacities
According to IFEMA, the building has more than 30,000 m² of usable space. Its centrepiece is Auditorium A, refurbished in 2019: 1,719 seats plus 38 spaces for people with reduced mobility, according to the 2026 capacity sheet. The floor plan splits the capacity between the stalls and the circle.
The 2,445 m² Espacio Polivalente takes 1,050 people for a banquet, and 1,704 if the foyers are added. The rooms on the upper floors range from about 20 to 385 people:

The floor plan also includes a VIP room and a press room, useful for speakers, dignitaries and media.
Getting there
The address is Avenida Capital de España 7, in Campo de las Naciones. Feria de Madrid station (metro line 8) is next to the main entrance, and the same line runs to the airport, about 4 km away. Chamartín station, with high-speed trains, is 8.5 km away. The building has its own car park with 200 spaces.
Production tips
- Confirm capacity against the floor plan for your set-up. The official sheets give different figures for the auditorium depending on the configuration and the seats held back for the control booth and accessibility.
- Use the Espacio Polivalente for two purposes. Exhibition and coffee breaks by day, gala dinner by night: plan the changeover and the time it needs carefully.
- Spread parallel sessions by floor. Group the rooms for each track on the same floor to reduce movement and queues at the lifts.
- Combine it with the exhibition centre. If the congress needs a large exhibition, the IFEMA exhibition centre is opposite.
