What events does the Caja Mágica suit?
The Caja Mágica covers a range few Madrid venues reach: indoor events for several thousand people in a single room. It fits annual conventions for large workforces, sales kick-offs with a show, product launches for customers and distributors, and large-format parties or gala dinners. Its ceiling heights allow staging that will not fit in a hotel or in most auditoriums.
Spaces and capacities
These are the Madrid Convention Bureau's figures:
| Space | Area | Height | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stadium 1 | 13,900 m² | 27 m | 12,442 theatre style |
| Stadium 2 | 6,800 m² | 23 m | 2,923 theatre style |
| Stadium 3 | 6,800 m² | 23 m | 1,712 theatre style |
| Tennis Indoor | 15,200 m² | 18 m | 1,600 theatre style |
| Catering area | 2,000 m² | 5 m | 1,500 banquet, 2,795 reception |
The venue is managed by Madrid Destino, the municipal company that also markets other city venues for events.
Getting there
The address is Camino de Perales s/n, in the Parque Lineal del Manzanares. The nearest metro station is San Fermín-Orcasur, on line 3. Central Madrid is about 6 km away and the airport about 28 km by road. With thousands of attendees, the usual approach is to combine the metro with shuttle coaches from the hotels and from Atocha or Chamartín stations.
Production tips
- Produce at stadium scale. A plenary of thousands of people needs area sound, delay screens along the stands and live vision mixing so the back row can follow the speaker.
- Design access as you would for a concert. Stagger arrival times, open several registration points and put up signage from the metro and coach stops.
- Check the sports calendar. The complex hosts competitions: confirm dates and build and breakdown days early.
- Use the smaller stadiums as support. Stadium 2 or 3 can host parallel sessions, an exhibition area or the reception afterwards.
- Plan catering well ahead. For services for thousands of people, kitchen space, the service area and loading logistics determine which format is possible.
What pairs well nearby
The Caja Mágica is in the south, away from the main concentration of hotels. It is best to house the group in the centre or on the Castellana, for example at the Hotel Riu Plaza España or the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding, and run shuttles. Compare it with other convention centres and venues in Madrid or tell us about your event and we will send you a proposal within 24 business hours.
