What kind of event suits the Galería de Cristal?
In the 17th century this site was part of the Palacio del Buen Retiro. Today it is a large courtyard covered by an irregular glass dome inside the Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid's City Hall. It is an open-plan space, very tall and full of daylight, which is completely transformed by lighting at night.
Its scale makes it right for gala dinners of 400 to 800 guests, awards ceremonies, closing dinners for a congress, staged presentations and product launches that need a big space in the centre rather than at a trade fair ground.

Getting there
There are two entrances: Calle de Alcalá 50 and Calle de Montalbán 1. The nearest metro is Banco de España (line 2), and the airport express bus stops at Cibeles, right by the door. Atocha, with AVE high-speed trains, is about 15 minutes on foot. For a gala, agree with the venue manager which entrance guests will use and which is for suppliers, and where coaches will stop.
Production tips
- Think about the roof. With a 25-metre glass ceiling, natural light takes centre stage in the afternoon. For an evening gala, lighting design and controlling reverberation are key budget lines.
- Back-of-house and support kitchen. The venue sheet describes a single space. For catering 800 covers, agree with the venue manager where the service area, support kitchen and staff zone will go.
- Dates subject to the City Council. The municipal calendar comes first. Request an option early and keep an alternative date.
- Registration outside the hall. With 800 guests, access control needs to be handled before the group enters the gallery.
