A convention in Toledo combines a working room, a World Heritage city and a night away from Madrid, about 33 minutes by train from Atocha. We propose a two-day programme based at the Eurostars Palacio Buenavista, an afternoon in the old town, the convention dinner and a close with a visit to a D.O. Méntrida winery.
Why Toledo for a convention?
Toledo solves something few getaways manage: in travel time, it is closer than many venues in the Madrid metropolitan area. The Avant train takes about 33 minutes from Madrid Puerta de Atocha, and by coach the journey is around an hour. The group changes scene without spending half the morning on the road.
In return, the city offers content for the experience element: an old town listed as a World Heritage Site, its own crafts such as damascene work, marzipan and La Mancha cooking with local wines. It works very well for sales conferences, leadership meetings and kick-offs with an incentive element.
What we set out here is an indicative sample programme. We adjust it to your objective, the size of the group and the season in the proposal we send you within 24 business hours.
The Eurostars Palacio Buenavista as a base
We chose the Eurostars Palacio Buenavista for three practical reasons. First, the working element fits entirely in the hotel: according to its website, it has more than twenty function rooms of different sizes, divisible and adaptable. Second, the group sleeps under one roof and has a 1,500 m² spa for free time in the afternoon. Third, distance: it is about 3 km from the old town, a few minutes by coach, without the access and loading problems that the medieval centre poses for coaches and technical equipment.
For small groups or leadership committees, the Parador de Toledo is the alternative: according to its website, its Greco room takes up to 130 people, and the building has one of the best panoramic views of the city, from the Cerro del Emperador.
How does the programme scale from 50 to 150 people?

In the old town, the width of the streets matters more than capacity. We work with several official guides and audio guides, in small groups, on routes that do not meet at the same points.
Logistics and transfers
For the outward journey we propose the train: group tickets issued in advance, a meeting point with our staff at Atocha and coaches waiting at Toledo station, which sits at the foot of the city. For the return, a direct coach from the winery, because the D.O. Méntrida lies north-west of Toledo and it is more practical to go back by road. If the group is large or there is a lot of production equipment, we go both ways by coach.
Within Toledo we travel by coach to the edge of the old town and on foot inside it. Anyone who wants to go up on their own can use the public escalators near the station.
What changes with the season
Spring and autumn are the best seasons: mild temperatures for the old town and the winery. In July and August the heat is intense in the middle of the day, so we move the visit to first or last thing and keep midday for the meeting room and the spa. In winter the city has fewer visitors, the visit includes more interiors (cathedral, museums, synagogues) and dinner stays at the hotel. The Puy du Fou España season runs for much of the year, and its night show is performed on specific nights; we check it when fixing dates. You will find the month-by-month analysis in our guide to the best time for events in and around Madrid.
Budget: what it depends on
We do not publish fixed prices because every convention is different. The cost items are accommodation, rooms and AV equipment, breaks and lunches, dinner, guided visits and the winery, train tickets and coaches, and coordination. What moves the cost per person most is the season, the day of the week, the choice between train and coach, and the number of services outside the hotel. We explain it in how much a convention in Madrid costs.
Who organises it
ECM is MC Group's brand for corporate events in and around Madrid. The team has more than 20 years of experience in conventions and incentives and has organised more than 100 corporate events in Madrid, with dedicated staff and event planners in the city. If you want to see how we approach the working element, take a look at company conventions; and for the experience element, incentive travel.
If you would rather combine Toledo with several days in Madrid, see the 4-day programme, which includes a day in the city. If you are looking for another nearby destination, the convention in Segovia or the Aranjuez and Chinchón convention. All the options are in convention programmes.
Does Toledo suit your next convention? Tell us your dates and group size and we will send you a proposal within 24 business hours.
