What kind of event suits Espacio Bertelsmann?
It is a compact building with a signature. Enric Miralles completed it in 1992 as the Círculo de Lectores cultural centre; it won the Premio Ciudad de Madrid architecture award that same year and is his only work in the city. Timber is the dominant material, and you can feel it in both the acoustics and the atmosphere of the room.
It suits meetings and seminars of up to 200 people, client days, streamed forums, report launches and talk-and-demo product launches. The venue has a cultural, debate-led profile, so it works better for content than for a party.

Getting there
The address is Calle de O'Donnell 10, on the Retiro side. The nearest metro stations are Ibiza (line 9) and Príncipe de Vergara (lines 2 and 9). From Atocha or Chamartín, both with AVE high-speed trains, it is a short taxi ride outside rush hour. O'Donnell carries heavy traffic: give drivers a specific drop-off point.
Production tips
- Make the most of the in-house kit. If the auditorium already has LED, streaming and interpreting booths ready, your AV budget can focus on content and cameras.
- Watch changeover times. Switching the same room from theatre to reception needs a break. Use the multipurpose area for coffee while the room is reset.
- Fast registration. The entrance desk can handle a flow of 200 people if you prepare the list in advance and use QR scanning.
What pairs well nearby
About 15 minutes on foot is the Movistar Arena, if the event grows into a large-scale format. For dinner in the centre you have Casa de América and the Galería de Cristal at the Palacio de Cibeles, on the other side of the Retiro.
