What kind of event suits the Thyssen?
Together with the Prado and the Reina Sofía, the Thyssen forms the museum axis along Paseo del Prado. For a company it offers something very specific: welcoming clients or senior management to a museum closed to the public, with a private viewing of the collection followed by a reception or dinner.
It suits gala dinners of up to 250 guests, welcome receptions for a congress, client drinks, small awards ceremonies and product presentations in the auditorium. The garden and terraces add seasonal options for spring and summer.

Getting there
The museum is at Paseo del Prado 8, opposite Plaza de Neptuno. The nearest metro is Banco de España (line 2), and Atocha station, with AVE high-speed and Cercanías commuter trains, is about ten minutes on foot. The airport express bus stops at Cibeles. For a dinner, coaches pull up on Paseo del Prado at an agreed point.
Production tips
- Fit the schedule to closing time. On most days the closed-museum slot starts at 7 pm. With five hours of use including set-up, the programme has to be tightly timed.
- Private viewing before drinks. Small groups with guides in rotation work better than one large tour.
- Ask about exclusive catering. In several spaces the caterer is fixed. We factor that in when designing the menu and service.
- Keep the set light. Nothing is hung or fixed in a museum without permission. Favour freestanding furniture and lighting on stands.
What pairs well nearby
Opposite, on Plaza de las Cortes, is The Palace to accommodate the group. A few steps away you have the Palacio Neptuno for a dinner for 350 and the Ateneo de Madrid for a day of content sessions.
