What kind of event suits the Teatro Real?
Few venues in Madrid carry the symbolism of the Teatro Real. It is a top-tier option for gala dinners, awards ceremonies, corporate anniversaries, premieres and staged product launches. When the season allows, the main auditorium can also host a conference, a forum or a plenary on an opera stage for almost 2,000 people.
The second-floor salons work as a suite: you can open with a presentation in one salon, move to a reception across the whole floor and finish with dinner in the Salón de Baile.

Getting there
The address is Plaza de Oriente, s/n: the theatre sits between Plaza de Oriente and Plaza de Isabel II. Ópera metro station (lines 2 and 5, plus the branch to Príncipe Pío) exits right by the door. Sol is ten minutes on foot. For a gala, the usual approach is to arrange coaches or cars with an agreed arrival point: much of the area is pedestrianised.
Production tips
- Request your date early. The main auditorium depends on the opera and ballet season. If your event needs it, put forward several possible dates.
- Design the reception room by room. For more than 900 guests, the theatre suggests combining the second-floor salons. Spread bars, music and content so the group keeps moving.
- In-house catering. The Teatro Real works with its own food and beverage service. We build the menu into the proposal from the outset.
- Site visit with the theatre team. The events team organises visits: come with an outline floor plan already drafted.
What pairs well nearby
On the other side of Plaza de Oriente is the Galería de las Colecciones Reales (Royal Collections Gallery), with a large terrace for 900 people. To accommodate the group, the RIU Plaza España is about ten minutes on foot.
