When to book your FITUR event

During FITUR week hotel occupancy is very high and the most sought-after venues are taken early. This is the timeline we recommend. If you are reading this in autumn 2026, there are only a few weeks left: ask for options as soon as you can.

Book your FITUR event
  1. 9 to 12 months aheadChoose the night and hold the venue and bedrooms. Ideally, do it as soon as the previous edition ends.
  2. 6 months aheadConcept, catering, AV, entertainment and a save the date to tour operators and press.
  3. 3 months aheadInvitations, registration and a transfer plan from IFEMA and the hotels.
  4. 4 to 6 weeks aheadRun of show, tables by market, rooming list and technical rehearsal.
  5. Fair weekOn-site production, coordination with your stand, photo and video.
  6. 48 hours afterPhotos, edited video and final accounts.

Why is FITUR Madrid's tourism week?

FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair, opens the industry calendar every January. In 2026 it drew more than 255,000 visitors, 155,000 of them trade visitors, and more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries, according to IFEMA's wrap-up report. The organisers estimate an impact of €505 million on Madrid's economy.

The 2027 edition will be the 47th. It runs from 20 to 24 January at IFEMA MADRID, across eleven halls, with Puerto Rico as partner country. The first three days are for trade visitors. At the weekend the general public comes in too.

For a destination, a hotel group, an airline or a tour operator, this has a practical consequence. For three days, their buyers, partners and journalists are in the same city. It is the best chance of the year to bring them together away from the stand, with time to talk and without the noise of the hall.

What events work during FITUR?

The formats that work are the ones that respect a trade visitor's schedule. A day at FITUR is a string of half-hour meetings on the stand. What is left free is the early morning and the evening. That is why we propose five formats:

  • Destination receptions. Drinks with product, food and music from the destination, and a few minutes of speeches. It is the classic format for tourist boards, regions and cities.
  • Dinners with tour operators and press. Tables allocated by market or by media outlet, with a destination spokesperson at each one. It is the format with the highest commercial return per guest.
  • Travel product presentations. A new air route, a hotel opening, a campaign. If you need a stage and AV, we treat it as a scaled-down product launch.
  • Exhibitor parties. The night of your pavilion, your hotel group or your alliance. It works if guests do not have to think about how to get there or how to get back.
  • Working breakfasts. Partner or board meetings before the halls open, in rooms next to the exhibition centre.

What works worst is competing without a strategy against dozens of invitations on the same night. Before setting the date we cross-check your audience against what has already been announced and look for the slot with the least competition. If the format is a seated dinner with a stage and awards, see also our gala dinners page.

Next to IFEMA or in central Madrid?

IFEMA is in Campo de las Naciones, about 4 km from Madrid-Barajas airport. The decision depends on the format.

Format Where we propose it Why
Breakfast or partner meeting Next to the exhibition centre No transfers before the halls open
Presentation with a stage Next to the exhibition centre or in a nearby hotel Large auditoriums and fixed AV
Destination reception Central Madrid Rooms with character that people remember
Dinner with tour operators Centre or Salamanca district Restaurants and rooms available for exclusive hire
Exhibitor party Large unique venue Exclusive use and ample capacity

For breakfasts and presentations, the IFEMA Palacio Municipal is in Campo de las Naciones itself, with Feria de Madrid metro station next to the entrance. For large receptions, the Galería de Cristal at the Palacio de Cibeles takes up to 1,200 guests standing. Casa de América suits destinations in the Americas. And for a big party, the hall of the Museo del Ferrocarril holds up to 2,800 people standing.

Logistics for a week in January

FITUR is one of the weeks of the year with the most pressure on Madrid's hotels. Coaches, AV technicians, hosts and restaurants available for exclusive hire are also in short supply. Our work starts by securing all of that in good time. That way, on the day, your team only has to look after its guests.

Three details worth planning for:

  1. Transfers. Leaving IFEMA at closing time means leaving with thousands of visitors. We run shuttles from a specific gate and from the hotels, on staggered timetables.
  2. Cold. Madrid nights are cold in January. If the venue has a terrace, we treat it as an extra, never as the main plan, and we look after the cloakroom.
  3. Changing guest lists. In fair week there are always last-minute drop-outs and additions. We set capacity with a margin and keep registration open until the day itself.

If you have a stand, we coordinate the event timings with your team leaving the hall. Stand design and build is done by a specialist contractor. We take care of what happens outside it. There is more detail on our page on events during trade shows and congresses.

What other dates should you look at?

FITUR opens the year, but it is not the only busy week. Madrid Fusión starts on 1 February, and ARCOmadrid and HIP coincide in the first week of March. If your sales calendar includes several of these, you will find all the verified dates in our Madrid trade fair calendar 2027.

Our experience in trade show weeks

The MC Group team has been producing corporate events for more than 20 years and has organised more than 100 in Madrid, with dedicated staff and event planners in the city. Trade show weeks are a central part of that work: every year the group's team produces brand events during ISE and MWC in Barcelona for Logitech, Microsoft and Yealink. They follow the same logic as FITUR: bookings made well in advance, guests leaving the exhibition centre tired and several nights of production in a row.

If you want your event at FITUR 2027, tell us which night you are interested in, what format you have in mind and how many guests you expect. We will send you a first proposal with available venues within 24 business hours.

Frequently asked questions

When is FITUR 2027?

From Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 January 2027, at IFEMA MADRID. It is the 47th edition and the partner country is Puerto Rico, according to IFEMA.

Which days of FITUR are for trade visitors only?

Wednesday 20, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 January. On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 the fair also opens to the general public. Events for tour operators, airlines and press make most sense on the three trade days.

How many people visit FITUR?

In 2026 the fair passed 255,000 visitors, 155,000 of them trade visitors, with more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries and 967 main exhibitors, according to IFEMA's wrap-up report.

How far ahead should you book an event during FITUR?

We recommend 6 to 9 months, and better still as soon as the previous edition ends. With less notice it is still possible, but with fewer venues available. That is why we always work with a second option.

Which night is best for a destination reception?

Wednesday and Thursday tend to work well because all the trade visitors are in Madrid. Friday is a good night for an exhibitor party, once the meetings are done. Before setting the date we check which other industry events clash.

Can you organise the event near IFEMA?

Yes. The IFEMA Palacio Municipal is in Campo de las Naciones itself, and there are hotels with large ballrooms around the airport. For dinners with more character we propose venues in the centre, about 25 or 30 minutes by coach, with shuttles from the exhibition centre.

What experience do you have with trade show weeks?

Every year the group's team produces brand events during ISE and MWC in Barcelona for Logitech, Microsoft and Yealink. It is the same work FITUR calls for: booking early, moving guests from the exhibition centre and producing several nights in a row.

Can I use the FITUR brand on the invitation?

A private event during fair week is not an official FITUR event. The prudent approach is to present it as your event in Madrid during FITUR, without the organiser's logos, unless you have an agreement with IFEMA.
